You are a soldier in Iraq. You just fell asleep, and all of the sudden, you hear gunshots ring out in the night. What happened? Is there an attack? What is going on? A fellow soldier tosses you your gun, and helmet. He points at your boots, and tells you to get dressed. You put on your pants, and boots, tightening your laces, and belt as you go. You have to hurry, or all will be lost. You put your shirt on, and your helmet. Your friend helps with the Kevlar, and hands you your gun. You take cover under fire behind a brick wall. This is a call to Arms.
So, what does this have to do with anything? This is merely a modern day rendition of the Armor of God, featured in Ephesians 6:10-21. And we, as Christians have fallen asleep. This is a call to arms. Take up your Bibles, get down on your knees, and pray for our nation. I am a proud American, and I weep for what our nation has become. We have a few guards (pillars of our faith today) watching for bad guys, and that is not enough. Is war fought by ten percent of the army? No. War, in one way or another is fought be hundreds of thousands. Everyone contributes. Whether you be a cook, a medic, the guy who cleans the latrines, or a general. We all have to contribute. This is no hug fest we are in people. Christians need to stand up, take a stand for what we believe in, before we lose our nation, and later our world. We have other countries sending us missionaries. Before we can move through the world in confidence, we need to bring our own nation back to God.
This is a Call to Arms. We are in war. We need to take aggressive action against the enemy, and we need to attack him on all fronts. How can we do this? Frankly, we need to show this nation, through our actions, and through our words, that we are still here, and we are still going to fight for the morality of our country. We need prayer warriors, we need leaders in the church who will be willing to unite, we need soldiers. People willing to die for the Cross, on which Christ died for us. We need to learn something from our enemy. The best defense is a good offense. I am tired of defending my faith. It is time to launch a counter offensive action. Instead of only defending our faith, ATTACK THEIRS. God does not need us to defend him, but he will help us attack. Stand up! Fight the enemy at every turn! Don't let him take one inch of ground! Retreat, surrender, and compromise are not an option. If we have God on our side, who can stand against us!
Now, I am not saying break out your rifle and start shooting. I am saying grab your bible, and start praying. I am saying that we need to contact our legislators in force, and tell them to outlaw abortion, outlaw sex on TV, outlaw pornography, period. We need to contact them in force, and tell them that we want the Ten Commandments on the lawn of our courthouse. We need to remind them of who our founding fathers were, other than people good for the occasion quote. The call has sounded. Who will heed it. I sure am.
God's will will never take you where his grace cannot cover you.

Fishing
I went fishing the other day, and had a thought. Fishing in today's terms means throwing a sharp utensil into the water, and hoping some poor fish is dumb enough to bite, at which point we set the hook, and reel like crazy. That is NOT the right way to bring people to Christ. It is, in fact, the worst way to do it. See, when Jesus told us to be fishers of men, they used nets, which were much more humane, and gentle. If they pulled in too many fish, or some fish were too small, it was as simple and picking them out of the bunch, and throwing them back.
See, we as Christians, I have discovered tend to try to force people into believing in Almighty God, when in fact, he wants us to gently pull them in. Not proverbial hook them. We should not be fans of lip piercings. See, he wants us to go where the fish are, and cast our nets. Frankly, if you are not catching any fish you are at, you need to move. If a fisherman goes where there are no fish, he goes hungry. If he goes where there are fish, he can eat for a life time. If you are not bringing people to Christ, you either need to try harder, or move on. Matthew 28:19-20 reads 'Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the father, and the son, and the holy ghost, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, even unto the end of the age.'
We are ALL called to spread his word, and the reason our nation, and our world is in the sorry state it is in is due to the lack of people willing to spread the word. I am expecting heat for this, but I only ask that you present a legitimate argument.

Praising God.
So, I am taking a break from my usual thought provoking posts to take a moment to praise God. I was walking outside today, and I saw a bird. I thought about it for a moment, and realized God knows how many feathers that bird has got. Last night, I went for a walk, and I looked at the stars, and realized God knows all of them by name! Then, it really hit me. As far as I know, the only one of God's creations that he actually has back and forth communications with is us! God knows the stars by name, he holds each and every atom together, he knows of every bird, every bug, every fish, and every other animal, alive or dead, in the world. And he chooses to talk with us. Not only that, but he loves us. It amazes me.

Of Telling
So, I had a thought last night. We pulled into the local grocery store chain, and saw the new Dodge sports car, and there were like ten people gathered around it, looking at it. And my family and I went over and admired it for a bit, and for the rest of the night, my dad and bro were telling people how they saw the new car. Now, where am I going with this, you may ask. I got to theinking about it, and we are all so willing to talk about the new movie, or the game last night. We are always so willing to talk about the latest polotics, and a most recent britney spears stunt.
So, I got to thinking about it, and I thought 'Why are we so unwilling to tell people of the greatest news to ever reach the Earth?' Why can we talk about the new movie, and completely leave Christ out of the conversation? Why will we talk about the newest economic stimulus package, and not mention the best bailout ever? (And it didn't even come from the government...) Why will we talk about the new Tom Clancy book, or Nora Roberts book, but not the Bible? Why can we sit up, and watch a movie until two, three in the morning, but we will miss church, which starts at ten? Why do we look at the sky, and wonder if there is other life, in stead of marveling at the awesome work of our creator?
Just something to think about. If you want to give me an answer, have at it, but I ask that you have some scripture referances.

Update
So, I am now in a new apartment, and it isn't really that great. It has it's plusses, and it minuses, but all around it's okay. Actually, when we moved in, the first thing I noticed was that you could smell the carpet glue. I noticed that the area is so new, that there is one apartment building across the street that isn't even done yet, and we have some neighbors moving in next door. I will be making some dish to take over as a 'Welcome to the new apartment' gift. So, just a little update on my life. (And Why I hadn't posted in a while...)

So, I was walking through the local buy in bulk store today, and I was walking through the books. I was just doing nothing, and I looked down, and I saw a book called 'The Bible, and the World'. So, I picked it up, and read the back. Turns out, the stupid thing was all about how wrong the bible is. I read the first chapter, or so, and I came to the conclusion that although it was based on absolutly nothing, some people would still give it credit. Just pray that noone buys it, because it was just convincing enough to where someone could pick it up, and be decieved.

So, why is the superbowl such a big deal? I was thinking about it today, and I realized that next month, noone will care. Next year, we'll all be asking who played this year. I was over at my uncle's house, watching the game, and I was thinking 'Why am I sitting here, when I could be doing much better things? Like sleeping.....' But then again, what does matter? If we a resuccesful in our buisiness, we retire happy. Big whoop. If we are great leaders, we are remembered for a short time, or if we are lucky, a few decades.
I mean, you never hear of anyone talking about people like Franklin Graham, or Benny Hinn, or Greg Laurie. I mean ten years from now, the only people who will likely remember them is those who they saved. So, how do we make a real differance? If you get the answer, let me know.

Why?
Why is it so hard to follow the Bible? They are easy to remember rules, that should be easy to follow, but I just can't follow all of them. I just work on one, and mess up in another. I just don't get why it is so hard.
